The Hospital Employees’ Union will pay Canadian Forest Products Limited (Canfor) $500,000 to settle a legal action launched by the company in 2004.

Canfor made a legal claim of damages for lost production and labour costs related to a disruption of its operations at the Northwood pulp mill near Prince George on April 30, 2004.

Under the terms of the settlement, the company will not pursue its claim against HEU and its members, or other trade union organizations and their members, and HEU admits no liability in the matter.
