Members' rights protected in North Island transition agreements

Following 20 months of discussions between the Hospital Employees’ Union, St. Joseph’s General Hospital and Island Health, agreements were reached on November 18 that will protect members’ rights in the transition to two new facilities being developed under the North Island Hospital Transition project.

The agreements include two labour adjustment plans for employees at St. Joseph’s General Hospital and Campbell River Hospital, and a transfer agreement for SJGH employees to go to Island Health.

The following local union meetings and joint union-employer presentations have been scheduled to review the details of the agreements, and to answer members’ questions.
