Community Social Services Bargaining Update

Update from the seventh week of Community Social Services bargaining

As the Community Social Services Bargaining Association (CSSBA) continues to meet with the employers’ association, they are pushing to achieve the non-monetary priorities that were set by CSS members at the CSSBA bargaining conference.

By the end of last week, all non-monetary topics and interests for consideration were tabled. In-depth discussions will continue on these critical issues over several days of negotiations.

Worker stories are a powerful tool for the negotiating table. Many CSS members at HEU and at other unions have shared that the pandemic has affected their working conditions in areas such as staffing, mental health, violence in the workplace, and workloads.

To show the employer how badly change is needed, the CSSBA wants to share real-life examples of the challenges faced in these areas.

Have you personally experienced challenges related to the pandemic? Please click here to share your story.

After non-monetary issues are dealt with, the CSSBA will move on to wages, benefits and other monetary topics, knowing that cost of living protections is critical to achieving the agreement that CSS members deserve.
