About the EAL course

The HEU-MOSAIC English classes are offered either fully online or hybrid (online and in-person). 

Online classes: 

• You will complete independent study activities on your own schedule on a Moodle site.     
• There will be weekly group workshops and one-to-one meetings with your teacher on Zoom.

Hybrid classes: Online and in-person

• You will complete independent study activities on your own schedule on a Moodle site.
• There will be weekly in-person workshops on Saturdays from 9:30-11:30 at MOSAIC Vancouver Language Centre, Suite 304, 2730 Commercial Drive, Vancouver
• There is childcare available for children 6 months to 12 years

Course expectations    

Participants will be expected to complete seven hours of study per week which includes:

• Five hours of online independent study per week, consisting of five to ten online activities.   
• Attend one workshop per week, in-person or on Zoom.  
• Participants can attend any Zoom time that works for their schedule. It does not have to be the same time every week. In-person sessions are on Saturdays from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m., every week.
•  Attend one-to-one online tutorials and coaching sessions with the instructor, as needed
• Complete assessments to track language progression

Please note that the course will include online activities. Participants should be comfortable navigating websites.  The course works best with a laptop.

You can borrow a device from HEU if you need one.
