New benefit fund for FBA members

Effective effective October 1, 2024, all Joint Facilities Benefits Trust (JFBT) plan members can apply for up to $1,500 in mental health and wellness benefits as part of pilot program that is linked to your extended health plan. This is possible through the support of the provincial government.

The benefit covers a wide-range of registered counselling services in person or online. The combined limit for each person covered by the plan will be $1,500 per person per calendar year. Members who access this trial benefit are reimbursed up to the limit outlined in the extended health plan. The pilot ends December 31, 2025.

This project is a partnership with the JFBT and Facilities Bargaining Association (FBA). In July, the Ministry of Health announced new supports for allied health and clinical support workers, and, as part of this package, the province allocated $20 million to the FBA to deliver this new benefit.
