In the 2022-2025 Facilities Bargaining Association (FBA) contract, many health and safety improvements were secured for more than 41,000 members in the sector.

One of the updated provisions is a confidential human rights harassment process for members experiencing workplace violations based on 13 prohibited grounds as defined by law under the Human Rights Code.

HEU members are protected from harassment on the basis of Indigenous identity, race, colour, ancestry, place of origin, political belief, religion, marital status, family status, physical or mental disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or age of that person or because that person has been convicted of a criminal or summary conviction offence that is unrelated to the employment or to the intended employment of that person.

As part of this updated process, the FBA and the Health Employers Association of BC (HEABC) have agreed to the following complaints investigators to help resolve these matters.

For sexual harassment allegations, members are to contact Shelley Ball, shelley.ball@icloud.com or 604-218-5249

In the case of any other human rights code allegations, where the complainants and respondents are both HEU members, members are to contact Sara Forte, fortefba@fortelaw.ca or 604-416-5057, or Ana Mohammed, ana.mohammed@shaw.ca or 604-939-5094.

Where the complainant is an HEU member, but the respondent is not an HEU member, members are to contact Toni Beharrell, info@southernlaw.ca or 604-314-7725, or Yuki Matsuno, info@southernlaw.ca or 604-307-7463.
