Simply Voting is a secure, confidential online election platform accessible by smartphone, tablet or computer. Nobody will ever know how you voted.
You will receive an email when voting opens at 9 a.m. (Pacific Time), on Monday, December 15. The email provides a link to the ballot on the Simply Voting website, and your unique Elector ID and password.
Voting will be open for five days, and will close at 12 noon (Pacific Time), on Friday, December 19.
Please note that the only votes that are counted are those cast. If you want your voice heard, make sure you vote.
Please note that as per the Constitution and By-Laws, an HEU member who belongs to more than one HEU Local will be eligible to vote in each facilities Local they are a member of. They will receive a separate email for each vote.
What if I don’t receive my ballot by email?
First step: please check the “spam” or “junk” folder of your email program. Sometimes your ballot ends up there.
If you’ve checked your spam/junk folder and you still don’t see an email ballot from HEU (via Simply Voting), then please email electionsofficer@heu.org or call 1-800-909-4994 as soon as possible. HEU staff will help you get your ballot.
Please contact HEU as soon as possible for any problems you experience. Leaving issues too late runs the risk of not having the voting problem resolved before the vote closes.
How to use the ballot
The ballot on the website will look something like the sample below.
You will be asked if you are in favour of accepting the new tentative agreement. Then you will check a box to answer “yes” or “no”. When you choose “continue” you will be given a chance to review your vote, and asked to confirm your choice.

Simply Voting is Canadian-based, and is used by the B.C. Labour Relations Board for certification votes, as well as many other government, labour and professional organizations.
Votes are counted through the Simply Voting platform. HEU receives certified results that are not associated with any member names or identities.
