Health care workers from Vancouver Hospital will march to Vancouver Coastal Health Authority CEO Ida Goodreau’s office this afternoon to deliver the message that contracting out important hospital support services to private corporations will compromise patient care and will cost taxpayers more.
The VCHA recently awarded a lucrative, 10-year laundry contract to U.S.-controlled K-Bro Linen Systems despite the company’s short but soiled history in the Fraser Valley. And the health authority is poised to contract out critical hospital cleaning, security and food services to outside companies.
