The Hospital Employees Union expresses unwavering solidarity with workers impacted by the U.S. president’s plan to impose tariffs on Canadian trade.

These measures have the potential to cause significant job loss and turmoil, and the future impact is unknown.

But we do know that authoritarian governments and influencers on both sides of the border are poised to seize this moment to consolidate corporate power and global wealth.

Workers in the U.S. and Canada must remain united in their fight to protect and expand labour rights in the face of reactionary and anti-worker policies.

We all have much to lose, and we must stand together.

HEU will engage in cross-border solidarity efforts, share strategies for resistance and organizing, and stand in unity against any government that seeks to undermine the power of working people.

We reaffirm our commitment to international labour solidarity, human rights, and the shared struggle for economic and social justice.

We reject attempts to frame the struggles of working people as in conflict with each other, both here in Canada and around the world.

We are in this fight together, and now is the time to forge strength through unity.
