Extended health benefits

You will find details about your extended health benefits in different places, depending on which bargaining association or sector you are in.

Facilities Bargaining Association members

For HEU members in the Facilities Bargaining Association, extended health benefits are managed and administered by the Joint Facilities Benefit Trust (JFBT). The trust is governed jointly by an equal number of representatives of the employer and FBA member unions. Health benefits are not negotiated in the Facilities Collective Agreement.

The JFBT manages extended health, dental, group life insurance, AD&D insurance, and long term disability benefits.

Independent sector members

For HEU members who have a collective agreement with a private or nonprofit employer, your extended health benefits are negotiated as part of your specific collective agreement, and that's where you will find the information. You can search for your agreement on this page, by entering the name of your work site.

Community Bargaining Association members

Benefits are also managed through a trust for union members in the CBA. The Joint Community Benefits Trust is jointly governed by the employer and the constituent unions.
