Diversity Training for Queer, Trans and Two-Spirit Allies

HEU’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) is critical to building a powerful, inclusive union for all. As part of our DEI work, HEU is offering a one-day workshop called Diversity Training for Queer, Trans and Two-Spirit Allies. 

By learning about one another and how we can support each other, we can work together to help dismantle barriers and systems that create oppression. 

During this workshop, participants will: 

• Review terminology and definitions in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community (and what those letters mean!). 
• Explore particular challenges and barriers 2SLGBTQIA+ folk may experience in workplaces and wider society.
• Discuss the impact of oppression on gender and sexually diverse workers.
• Understand what an ally is and what allyship looks like in practice. 
• Discuss some of the current issues in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

In consultation with the HEU Pink Triangle Standing Committee, this workshop is designed for 2SLGBTQIA+ community allies, not for those who identify as queer, trans, or 2-spirit.
