Health and Safety Appointments in your local webinar
Description

This hour-long webinar is for HEU local executive members.

HEU local executives are responsible for the selection and appointment of Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) worker representatives and, in smaller locals, worker health and safety representatives.

The JOHSC plays an important role in workplace health and safety, giving members a voice in matters relating to health and safety issues.

To complete the process for HEU locals to appoint members to JOHSC, it is important that the local executive members understand when a JOHSC is legally required. This is accomplished at the local level through steps taken to ensure a fair and transparent process, and, importantly, the process ensures employers receive consistent notification of our union’s right to appoint in accordance with the Workers Compensation Act.

This workshop walks you through the process of appointing JOHSC representatives in your local.
