For the past two weeks, your Facilities Bargaining Association (FBA) bargaining committee has been meeting regularly with the employer.

These sessions have been productive, and the committee is making steady progress at the table.

“We’re encouraged by the progress we’ve made so far,” says FBA lead negotiator and HEU secretary-business manager Lynn Bueckert. “Discussions at the table are constructive, and we’re confident that by staying focused on members’ priorities we can move closer to an agreement.”

As bargaining has advanced, the committee has begun the important work of narrowing down its proposals. This process allows the committee to sharpen its focus on the issues that matter most to members, while ensuring the FBA is making the strongest possible case for improvements to the collective agreement.

In particular, wages and wage comparability are a top priority. These conversations are central to achieving fairness for health care workers, and efforts are focused on closing the long-standing gaps that remain across the sector.

At the same time, the committee continues to address other key bargaining priorities identified by members.

“We know that health and safety, staffing levels and workload issues are directly tied to the quality of care patients and residents receive,” says Bueckert. “By advancing proposals on these priorities, the committee is working to ensure that members have the support, resources, and safe working conditions they need to provide the best care possible.”

Negotiations with the employer continue through the final week of August.
