“I work as a food service worker at a hospital. For the past 10 years, I’ve worked for a private company. We are so happy to hear the news that we are coming back in-house. We have been waiting a long time for this!
My shift starts at 5:30 in the morning and I help with nourishment and snacks. I walk all around the hospital making sure the nurses and the patients have what they need so the patients can take their medications.
COVID has been tough on all of us. We’re a close team and we used to love sharing food together. Overall, it’s been hard but we are getting used to living this way.
For some reason, I was never really afraid of COVID, even at the beginning. I was calmer about it and really tried to convince my co-workers not to be afraid.
Everybody in my family got COVID, including my mom, dad, son and brother. Thankfully, they are all okay. Somehow, I’m the only one who didn’t get it. We all stayed home for 2 weeks together and I cooked for them.”
