The Hospital Employees' Union, the B.C. Coalition of People with Disabilities and the B.C. Government and Service Employees' Union are holding a public forum to shed light on a Vancouver/Richmond Health Board proposal that, if approved, will result in the closure of the G.F. Strong Rehabilitation Centre and the consolidation of its services with those at the site of George Pearson. The consolidation will drastically change rehab and maintenance services to people with disabilities in B.C. WHEN: 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 26 WHERE: Unitarian Church, The Hall, 49th Avenue and Oak Street The forum will involve people who have been excluded from the consultation process and open the board's plan to public scrutiny. People with disabilities, advocacy organizations, and health providers and their unions will present their concerns and recommend steps that would strengthen rehab services, including the creation of a provincial rehab agency with a concrete, province-wide mandate.
