On July 7, the Nurses Bargaining Association (NBA) declared their second impasse with health employers, while at the same time announcing new picket lines commencing at four worksites this weekend.
Below are the confirmed dates, times and locations of the four new picket lines at Vancouver Island worksites:
- Sunday, July 12 - Victoria General Hospital at 5:30 a.m.
- Monday, July 13 - Nanaimo Regional General Hospital at 5:30 a.m.
- Monday, July 13 - South Islands Surgical Centre at 5:30 a.m.
- Tuesday, July 14 - Royal Jubilee Hospital at 5:30 a.m.
HEU members at all four sites will receive further instructions the day prior to picket lines going up.
Other updates
In other news, job action by nurses at Vancouver General Hospital were temporarily paused on July 9. The next day, the provincial government announced the appointment of mediators Vince Ready and Amanda Rogers to help resolve the dispute.
Today, picket lines are coming down at Surrey Memorial Hospital and Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre tomorrow at 6:45 p.m.
Please note, any members working or on the picket line when job action pauses will receive instructions on what actions are required to support the nurses' stand down.
For members at other worksites, all current job action by the NBA remains in effect. Please continue reporting for your scheduled shifts and following normal work assignments unless you receive direct instructions from HEU.
