2025 bargaining updates

The Community Bargaining Association (CBA) collective agreement expired on March 31, 2025. About 2,300 HEU members work in the community health subsector.

In preparation for contract negotiations, HEU held a two-day bargaining conference in November 2024. During the conference, delegates adopted bargaining demands, identified top priorities, and elected a new bargaining committee.

HEU members Nicole Russell and Lisa Bouma were elected with four alternates, and are supported at the bargaining table by HEU staff Brenda Brown and Tasha Whenham.

Bargaining kicked off in March with the Health Employers Association of BC (HEABC). Stay connected.

The Community Bargaining Association includes BCGEU (the lead), CUPE, HEU, UFCW, HSA, BCNU, and USW, covering 21,000 workers across the province.

Benchmarks

Under the Job Classification Plan, benchmarks are the sole criteria for the classification of jobs in the community health subsector. Each benchmark contains a scope and level definition, and a list of typical functions and responsibilities by which jobs or positions are distinguished and classified.

A benchmark is not a job description.

These documents will provide your benchmark rate code and/or grid code. To find your wage rates, look at your Collective Agreement and your Wage Schedule, both found on this page.

The benchmarks are divided into seven job families.
